Gradius Origins announced, I lose my collective for a collection

More On: Gradius Origins

In my Rendering Ranger review, I said that I am a complete sucker for these collections of older retro games repackages and pitched to me. Someone somewhere in a boardroom is saying "just put them on a disc and sent them out there. Someone will get them." That person is me, and Gradius Origins will not be overlooked.

Gradius Origins, a collection put together by Konami and Limited Run Games, stuffs 6 arcade shoot-em-up games into one compilation. Gradius 1, 2, and 3 are here, as well as Salamander 1 & 2, and Life Force. These games will also come with different variations of the game, which means we may get the NES goodness. They're also sweetening the deal, with Salamander III, for the first time on consoles.

These games will have rewind and quick save and load functionality, because these games are brutal, and are not for the weak. There's even a new training mode to help you get through the nastiest of galaxies. They say if you're scared, turn on invincible mode. But you're not scared, are you?

Preorders have already started for the May 11th release on pretty much all the things. There will even be collectors editions, and for you physical lovers out there, three different covers to choose from. I'll see you out there. This is a day one for me.
