War Robots: Frontiers is now available across PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One with full crossplay between platforms and console generations. The free-to-play PvP mech shooter lets players choose a preset mech, or custom build their own with more than five million possible permutations of mech parts. 18 pre-built mechs are available at lauch, catering to a wide variety of playstyles from flanker to defender to help make the game approachable.
At launch, War Robots: Frontiers will feature four maps, each with day-and-night cycles and dynamic weather systems, thanks to Unreal Engine 5. On PlayStation 5, it also features support for DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers (oh baby!). In terms of game modes, three are ready at launch – Warp Rush, Last Robot Standing, and Team Deathmatch. I think you can guess what the latter two are, but Warp Rush is a variation of traditional Domination modes in other shooters.
Of course, as a free-to-play live service game, War Robots: Frontiers includes battle passes, the first of which will be available on March 11th as part of the game’s first post-launch season, titled “Blockade”, and will include new maps, modes, robots, and more.
Several free-to-play shooters have all launched within a two-week period on PlayStation 5, but I am keen to check this one out. The game is downloaded, I’ve recruited a playing partner, and I’m ready to roll.
