2K has finally pulled back the curtain on a brand new feature coming to WWE 2K25 called "The Island" and it's what a lot of us suspected. This mode looks awfully similar to "The City" from the NBA 2K games.
In the latest Ringside Report, 2K goes in depth about the mode. The Island includes four unique districts including Hero HQ, The Arcade of Tomorrow, The Deadlands and The Temple of Ancestors. You can create your own unique My Player and deck them out with gear including clothing from actual clothing brands such as Nike, Jordan, Puma and WWE Shop.
The main part of the mode seems to be a quest system that will play out over five chapters. You can complete quests which will earn in game rewards and XP which game be used to update the attributes of your My Player.
I have a lot of concerns about this. Not just for the potential grinding and how much stuff is going to cost but the fact that items for the creation suite are being locked behind this mode. Create a Wrestler and Community Creations is the lifeblood of this series and the reason a lot of people buy this series. If they keep locking creation parts behind this more in the future there is going to be a revolt in the community. Either way we will find out soon enough.
WWE 2K25 launches on March 14th for PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One and Series X.
