Roller Coaster Tycoon Classic getting touchscreen support on Switch

More On: Roller Coaster Tycoon Classic

The roller coaster franchise has been alive and sending screaming patrons down rickety tracks for 25 years. Roller Coaster Tycoon Classic is the 2016 remaster of the first and second game in the series. It originally released on mobile those eight years ago. Then a year later was ported onto Mac and PC and then finally landed on the Switch about two months ago. Ports are hard, especially from PC to the Switch given the vast differences in hardware and user inputs but being a mobile game first surely made that task easier. What's really neat is that Graphite Lab is going that bit extra to not just bring the game to life on Nintendo's portable, but taking full advantage of its unique hardware but incorporating touchscreen controls into the game's support. Awesome.

I'm not a huge retro gamer but tycoon games are kind of timeless and to see a developer take that sort of care to deliver the best experience possible is commendable. And to be honest this game probably needs it as it is charging a premium at $25 on the Switch vs $20 on PC but only $6 on mobile. Thankfully there is also a sale going on right now where you can save $5 and get the Switch version at PC prices for the next two weeks.
