Mai's character guide was released today on the Street Fighter 6 youtube page, and I still don't believe it's happening. February 5th is when everyone will get to try to become new "fans" of her in Street Fighter, if they weren't already. Here's a couple of highlights.
Her projectile is the Kachousen. It can be knocked out of the air, and loses to all other projectiles. If you hold the button, they can't be knocked down, and depending on the strength, they fly further upward, and hit double. The overdrive version lets you throw multiple fans.
The Ryuuenbu is safe if the light one is used from mid range, and the medium and heavy hit twice. The Overdrive one launches. You do not want to use this if you don't think it will strike, as it, along with many of Mai's moves, leaves her open. It does hit crouching opponents, if you got those good reads.
The Hishou Ryuuenjin is your anti-air, shoryuken move. Again, make sure it hits, and probably use it as a check or at the end of a combo. Musasabi no Mai is your anti-air, in the air, as it follows up attacks. If you start it in the air, and hit your opponents feet, and it's blocked, then it's safe to not get hit.
The Kagerou No Mai is the level 1, and though it can cause damage, both ground and anti air, it also doubles as a utility super, which gives Mai flame stocks, and can add flame properties to all her specials AND super arts. Her level 2 is the Chou Hissatsu Shinobi Bachi, and goes through projectiles. It's invincible, so I would love to see it after a Lariat or a Hadoken.
The Shiranui Ryuu: Enbu Ada Zakura, the Level 3 and Her Critical Art, are a site to be seen for yourself. But she looks so amazing, and I can't believe all the love they put into her. With Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves coming soon, and Capcom Fighting Collection 2 on the way, you're going to see a lot of Mai here in the next few months. Nipponichi.
