On deck for Magic: the Gathering - 2025 release calendar

Here we are, fresh at the start of a new year. For Magic: the Gathering fans, it is time to start budgeting for the new sets lining up for release in the coming year. Here are the sets that have currently been dated for release in 2025:

Innistrad Remastered - January 24, 2025

• Magic is returning to my favorite plane in the Magic-Multiverse: Innistrad! While this isn't a new set, but rather a collection of reprints of all of the sets based on this plane. This includes a GORGEOUS new version of everyone's favorite vampire commander: Edgar Markov!

Aetherdrift - February 14, 2025

• This is the first completely new set seeing release this year, and it actually spans three different planes in the multiverse: Amonkhet, Kaladesh, and a third, yet-revealed plane. You can think of this as Mad Max meets Magic: the Gathering. I expect this set to be havily artifact based, with tons of new weapons and vehicles.

Tarkir: Dragonstorm - April 11, 2025

• We're going, going... back, back... to Tarkir, TARKIR! Everyone's favorite creature-type takes the stage once again: DRAGONS! Another war is breaking out on Tarkir and those giant beasts are looking to wreak havoc in the sky and on the land.

Final Fantasy - June 13, 2025

• This is the set the everyone is talking about, in good and bad ways! FF fans are salivating for it and Magic truebloods are cringing at another Universes Beyond set. The next full, Universes Beyond set is heading to the world of Final Fantasy. We're not just talking about a couple of themed Commander decks, but an entire set based on Squaresoft's fascinating worlds.

Edge of Eternities - August, 2025

• Magic is going full space / sci-fi with Edge of Eternities. Expect some planetary exploration as players head to the the dark depths of space in this new plane / world.

While these are all of the sets with official dates on the calendar, there are two other sets that WOTC has said will be launching this year that have not been dated, plus some additional things to look forward to:

Spider-Man - TBA

• When the Marvel Secret Lairs were revealed at the New ytork Comic-Con, it was said that Spidey wasn't included because he would b e receiving the full Universes Beyond set treatment in 2025. This full set will be Standard legal, as will all Universes Beyond releases going forward.
  
  

Unannounced Universes Beyond - TBA

• December is supposed to bring is another Universes Beyond set, but the extact IP that it is based on has not been revealed. There is a ton of room for speculation with this considering it is going to be a full set. I am placing my chips on Transformers getting the long, overdue full set treatment.
  
  

Various Masters sets and annual Commander release

• There are surely going to be a Masters set or two launching in the coming year. Plus, the annual Core-Commander release of some sort. Hopefully WOTC will shed some light on those products in the coming months.
