As we entered the new year, you may have noticed that our site was down for a few days. Loading up our site simply delivered a blank white screen, and following links to our library of gaming reviews yielded the same result. A few loyal readers reached out via email and social media to ask what gives. So I figured a quick word of explanation was in order.
As many of our readers know, Gaming Nexus is fiercely independent. We do not accept any advertisement dollars, sponsorships, or partnerships. This means, of course, that our operating expenses come entirely out-of-pocket, paid by our site owner, including the expense of servers to house our content and the bandwidth to deliver it. Right before the holidays, we learned that the company serving as Gaming Nexus' host (the servers where we house all of our content, basically) was stopping service. We had less than one week to find a new host and transition over 25 years of content over to it.
This was a bit of a time sink. We also had to reset our internal admin to work with the new host, revalidate our emails, and essentially rewire the entire site. All of this work fell onto our site owner, who also does all of the techy-tech-teching himself. (Inside baseball - for those that wonder why we don't update the site to feel more modern, it is all handled by one dude, who has a full time job and two kids. Its...a lot.)
Anyhow, the tasks are all completed and we are just about ready to roll. While the surprise move wasn't great, the timing was actually kind of fortuitous, as it fell in the traditional slow period of the holidays, when gaming news and PR slows to a crawl. You might notice a few hiccups on the coming days - pictures not loading correctly, or videos not appearing as expected - but we expect all of that to resolve over new couple of weeks.
In the meantime, we are happy to be back in action, and are looking forward to a great 2025 (there's a new Monster Hunter game coming, y'all!). Thanks for your constant support, and Happy New Year!
