One of the biggest surprises for me out of The Game Awards was Rematch, a 5v5 multiplayer football (soccer) game from Slocap, the developers of Sifu and Absolver. Obviously, it’s a complete departure from its last two games, though you can see the studio’s spirit in Rematch. Emphasizing position, timing, and precision, Rematch features short, fast-paced matches that reward proper teamwork.
Rematch features solely online multiplayer that Sloclap promised will be fair and balanced, placing the focus on player skill above all else. In addition to the primary 5v5 mode, there are also quickplay game modes, as well post-launch support planned to add new game modes cosmetic options to customize your character. As for when we can get our hands on the game, it is currently targeting a Summer 2025 release on PC and current-gen consoles.
