I had heard of Synduality Echo of Ada but must admit that I’ve blown it off until now, and for that I must apologize, because it looks very promising. Bandai Namco revealed today that the extraction shooter is getting an open network test (open beta) beginning tomorrow, December 12th. The test client is available to download now so you can be ready to go when the servers go live.
Synduality Echo of Ada is set in the year 2222, within the universe of the Synduality: Noir anime, where toxic rain has wiped out most of humanity and created horrifying creatures called Enders. Remaining humans live underground, only able to navigate the surface in 20-feet tall mechs known as Cradlecoffins (great name). Each human Cradlecoffin pilot also has an AI companion called a Magus which aids them both in and out of combat situations. The goal of the game is to explore the world, gather resources to upgrade your base and Cradlecoffin, and ultimately, help keep humanity alive.
The catch is that you will be playing with other human players online, and it is up to each player whether they want to work cooperatively or not. Regardless, every alliance is fragile, meaning that a player can turn hostile upon extraction and steal all of your loot. Bandai Namco also revealed in today’s announcement that they will be adding a PvE mode that lets you explore the game’s systems and lore, albeit without obtaining any loot or resources in the process.
Synduality Echo of Ada launches January 23rd for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. You can check out a new systems overview trailer below. I’m stoked to jump into the test tomorrow and see how wrong I was to doubt this game.
