Not so secret anymore, is it?
Ruckus Games is a new game developer comprised of industry veterans from some companies you may have heard of like Gearbox, Bethesda, Epic Games, Riot Games, Monolith, and others. Ruckus, which is led by former Borderlands 3 and The Elder Scrolls Online creative director Paul Sage, has announced its first project – a four-player cooperative multiplayer game. It is still early days for the game, so early in fact that it doesn’t even have a title, but it certainly sounds promising.
The untitled game will feature an evolving world set in the American heartland that will get new emergent content updates over time. A town comes under attack by what sounds like supernatural forces, forcing players to scavenge resources to build defenses and weaponry. Thousands of weapons can be crafted, including a toaster that shoots saw blades and a pressure washer flamethrower. The game will also include a large roster of playable characters. As you progress, your town will serve as a centralized hub to bring rescued NPCs back to, which in turn expands the town and allows you to enhance your weapons and abilities.
There is no gameplay to show yet, though playtests will begin early next year, which you can sign-up for on the studio’s website. Ruckus Games did share a few screenshots though, and I’m digging the art style so far. Stay tuned for more in the months ahead.
