Throne and Liberty has gotten off to a blistering start, amassing millions of players in just six weeks on the market, and the MMORPG shows no signs of slowing down. One of the game’s most exciting features – massive PvP castle sieges – is getting added on November 17th and we’ve got all the details of how they’ll work.
Stoneguard Castle will be the first battleground for players to go to war over, utilizing whatever tactics they deem appropriate. Sieges are coordinated through guilds, with the defending guild needing to bolster defenses and hold its ground to retain control of the fortress. Attacking guilds can attack head-on, sneak through sewer tunnels, or even hitch a ride on a giant flying whale to blow past castle defenses. In each instance of the siege event, guilds have 45 minutes to reign victorious or die trying. Guilds begin on the outer edges of the castle, fighting to the throne room (if they make it that far) where both defending and attacking guilds will make their final push. Inside the throne room, guild leaders that interact with the throne will transform into the Usurper – a giant knight that must survive for three minutes in the capture zone to seize the throne, which must be held until the 45-minute timer expires. And that is only scratching the surface of the various siege mechanics and roles of small versus large guilds. You can read about it in more detail here, if you please.
This sounds awesome, and after putting it off for weeks, I’m finally tempted enough that I’m downloading Throne and Liberty. I’ll be on the lookout for a guild that’s appropriate for filthy casuals like me.
