Developer Airship Syndicate’s action RPG, Wayfinder, has moved out of early access, launching its 1.0 version this week. Wayfinder has had a winding road since releasing in early access last year, having changed publishers, monetization scheme, and several gameplay systems in the meantime.
For starters, the formerly free-to-play live service game now has a one-time barrier to entry of $24.99 with no microtransactions whatsoever. It is also now entirely possible to play the game solo and offline, which is huge news. Several new playable heroes have been added, bringing the current total to eight, including a new Arcanist named Lora. A new open-world zone has been added as well, which adds more quests, mini-bosses, secrets, and a new hookshot traversal tool. This is all in addition to multiple dungeons, a main campaign, and over 3,000 weapon, armor, and housing items.
It sounds like Wayfinder has come a long way in a year. I’ve just re-downloaded it, because I did enjoy my time in early access. Wayfinder is available now for PC and PlayStation 5, with an Xbox version coming by the end of October, including crossplay multiplayer between all three platforms.
