September 24th is going to be a busy day for (fighting) games

More On: Street Fighter 6

That time when you don't realize that the big 3 of fighting games are all releasing content of some sort on September 24th Yes, Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat 1, and Tekken 8 are all releasing something on the exact same day. Did they coordinate this? Maybe. Maybe not. Let's go down the list.

Mortal Kombat 1 will release the Khaos Reigns expansion. This comes with 6 new characters, balance updates, new stages, a new storyline around Havik for some reason, and a returning finishing move that hasn't been seen since Mortal Kombat 3. The Animality is free for all users, but the expansion pack is essentially a new game. Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot return to the game, in their peace era variants, and the three characters to come later are Ghostface (Scream), the T-1000 (T2: Judgement Day), and Conan the Barbarian.  The price is a little jarring and convoluted, seeming that you cannot buy the characters separately, and it's $10 cheaper on the Switch. So yeah, that's a thing. If you bought that super expensive ultimate edition, you did nothing to make your purchase cheaper.

Terry Bogard is the second DLC character for Street Fighter 6, and the first guest character in a mainline Street Fighter game. Straight out of Fatal Fury, he comes with a move set that is very cool looking, and a new stage, the Pao Pao Cafe. He will also be featured in the world tour mode with his own story line, and of course there's a battle pass based on his release. If you didn't get Bison, you can get Terry separately, or buy the Season 2 pass that comes with Bison, Terry, Mai Shiranui (Fall), and Elena (Winter). Terry is out now.

Finally, there's Heihachi Mishima's gameplay reveal for Tekken 8. Thought to be dead (twice now), Heihachi comes with a free story update fleshed around his return, and adds a little bit of content to the game Like Street Fighter 6, you can get the character separately, and, like Street Fighter 6, you can get a season pass to get Eddy, Lidia, Heihachi, and an unannounced 4th character. No announcement on the release, though I wouldn't put it past Bandai Namco to make it the 24th.

Then there's the State of Play for Sony, Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, and two days later, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will be released for the Nintendo Switch. It's an insane week for gaming, and I feel sorry for the writer who has to cover this. Wait...I'm the writer. Someone order me a coffee.
