Viscera aims to keep the twin-stick arcade shooter dream alive

More On: Viscera

I am a big proponent of twin-stick shooters, and there is one coming in hot that you should know about. Canadian indie developer Animation Logic is prepping its debut title, Viscera, for a release on PC late this year, and it looks glorious. The studio is inspired by titles like Doom, Crimsonland, and Nuclear Throne, promising no story or cutscenes – just pure arcade shooter violence.

Clearly, the emphasis in Viscera is on gameplay, and you’ll have lots of tools at your fingertips to blast hordes of enemies as you survive for as long as you can while chasing high scores and climbing the global leaderboards. To do so, more than 50 weapons will be at your disposal, such as machine guns, plasma rifles, and the black hole generator. There is also a robust perk system with over 80 abilities to modify your playstyle, adding build variety to keep you around for just one more run.

Check out the gameplay trailer below as we await a firm release date, or wishlist it on Steam. And bless Animation Logic for helping keep the twin-stick arcade shooter alive.
