Developer Emberstorm Entertainment has announced that its debut title REKA, a witchcraft base-building adventure game, is launching on Steam in Early Access on September 12th. I remember seeing REKA when it was first revealed, but had lost touch with its development, so I’m glad to see it pop back up, as it is a unique-looking adventure.
In Early Access, players will get to see the game’s opening chapters as you discover your witchcraft powers and embark on a journey with a chicken-cottage companion. That’s right – your home is a walking chicken, which makes me think of Freya from the new God of War games and sounds appropriately witchy. Additional content and story updates will be added over time, but for now you will roam the Slavic countryside, customizing your cottage/companion, meeting the locals, and taking on early quests. It looks delightful, spooky, and, perhaps most of all, magical.
