Sock away $50 right now, horror fans, because RETROREALMS arrives in October

In one of the coolest new gaming initiatives I've seen this year, Boss Team Games and WayForward Technologies today announced the October debut of their new RETROREALMS label, which will premiere with two game based on classic horror franchises.

Check this out: you can buy John Carpenter's Halloween and Ash vs Evil Dead separately for $24.99 each. Both games are fast-paced hack n' slashers with retro 16-bit graphics and modern mechanics. BUT - if you buy both titles, they can cross over with each other, and you can take characters from Halloween into Ash vs Evil Dead and vice-versa.

The possibilities really start to open up when you realize that RETROREALMS is just getting started - there are more games planned to release under the banner, which will eventually create an entire hack n' slash horror universe, where you can take your characters on adventures across the RETROREALMS-verse.

From today's press release: "The two RETROREALMS titles, each sold separately, connect with each other to create an ever-expanding universe of popular characters that unlocks additional gameplay. The games can be played individually or, if both titles are purchased, new features can be accessed including taking characters from one game into the other. Players can also commemorate their achievements within the RetroRealms Arcade, a lovingly realized 3D gateway and tribute to arcade gaming that connects both RETROREALMS titles, providing a single way to access every game in the series and to redeem in-game tickets, view leaderboards, and find other exclusive content." Umm...yes?

You can also unlock a few extra characters (Lori Strode from Halloween and Kelly Maxwell from Ash) by pre-ordering, and a pretty cool deluxe edition for the Halloween game is available to pre-order for $99.

RETROREALMS is scheduled to debut on October 18, 2024 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
