More On: Splitgate 2

Well, that was quick. After just announcing Splitgate 2 a couple of weeks ago, developer 1047 Games is back today to show off a first look at gameplay for the sequel, which is preparing for a 2025 launch. The new video debuts not only the visuals and moment-to-moment gameplay of the free-to-play arena shooter, but also a look at its three player factions. The Aeros faction values speed and masterful use of portals to be in the middle of the action. The Meridian faction is more of a support role, with its Hypersight and Time Dome abilities to provide healing and buffs. Finally, the Sabrask faction has powerful offensive abilities that make them formidable in straight-up gunfights, including use of the Smart Wall.

1047 Games will be back in short order with another look at Splitgate 2, holding a livestream on August 14th on Twitch to dive deeper into the game. Along those lines, the game’s first Alpha playtest is being held August 21st – 25th via Steam; interested players will be able to sign-up on the game’s Steam page. I’m speculating quite a bit here, but if the game is in Alpha currently, that could mean we are four to six months away from a Beta, which could also mean we are eight to twelve months from launch. If I were a betting man, my money would be on a Summer 2025 release for Splitgate 2, or January 1st, since they just said 2025.
