One of my most-anticipated games still yet to come this year is Capcom's unique-looking action strategy tower defense hybrid, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess. My gut feeling was that it would be a Summer release, and over the weekend the publisher confirmed as much - it is releasing July 19th for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Xbox Game Pass.
Capcom also shared a new gameplay trailer highlighting the game’s mash-up of genres and gameplay mechanics, character design, and art style. In Kunitsu-Gami, players assume the role of Soh as they rescue villagers by day, and fight off supernatural enemies known as the Festering Seethe by night. Strategically placing villagers and equipping them with the proper role to assist your defense is key. Your strategic skills will be especially put to the test when you die, at which point you enter a Spirit State and are only able to control the villagers, rather than engaging in direct combat.
