At long last, developer New World Interactive and publisher Focus Entertainment have given tactical military first-person shooter Insurgency: Sandstorm a current-gen facelift on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. Longtime fans of the intense co-op and competitive shooter have been waiting years for the upgrade, which features native 4K resolution and 60 frames per second on PS5 and Xbox Series X, topping out at 1080p on Series S.
The update also comes with improved textures, faster loading times, and on PS5 specifically, support for haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Thankfully, the current-gen upgrade is free for all owners of the game, though the new version is a standalone file package on your respective console.
As a big fan of the game, I can’t believe the day has finally come. I’ve been lockstep with many of you in the subreddit, dying for news on the upgrade. We can now rest easy, my friends.
