I played plenty of JRPGs before I picked up Golden Sun, but few have left a mark on me quiet like the original two entries into the series. At the time, I couldn’t believe how good Golden Sun looked on my little Game Boy Advance screen. I had picked up the game on a whim, needing something to play during the long cars rides of summer vacation. I was blown away. The epic story of three friends searching for answers and finding more trouble along the way. A score to a video game that still has me humming a few of its tunes even to this day. Searching out every Djinn in the first title so I could transfer them all over to the sequel, Golden Sun: the Lost Age. The twist of playing as one of the main antagonists of the first game in the sequel blew my mind way back in 2002. I can’t say enough good things about these two titles.
When I saw that they were coming to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack I was beside myself. I had picked up both games for my WiiU when they hit that shop years ago. I played through the first one again and fell back in love with the series. I can’t wait to do it all again later this week, this time on my Switch.
Golden Sun, and the sequel Golden Sun: The Lost Age will be on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack on January 16. If you are into the JRPG genre then you owe it to yourself to jump at the chance to play these great games. Then you to can be upset they didn’t do more for this franchise.
