Police Simulator: Patrol Officers has been out for over a year now on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, but post-launch support for the game has been going strong. While developer Aesir Interactive is consistently working on squashing bugs, occasionally they sneak in a content update as well. That is the case today, as the new Tackling Update is live now and free for owners of the game. The new update adds the ability to tackle fleeing suspects to the ground like the security guards at sporting events. Sure, using the taser always puts a smile on my face, but tackling is a nice new wrinkle. The update also adds a mini-map to the UI (a much needed feature), as well as general bug fixes and improvements.
If you’re looking to spend a little bit of cash, two new DLC vehicles are available starting today – the Guardian Police Vehicle and Surveillance Police Vehicle. Each runs $2.99 USD and feature unique capabilities. The Guardian is a large van that lets you arrest a whopping six suspects, rewards an additional 10 shift points for each arrestee, and doubles shift points if you bring a van load of suspects to a precinct at the same time.
Meanwhile, the Surveillance vehicle lets you tail potential lawbreakers while on-board technology detects potential offenses that the driver has committed. It’s borderline dystopian, but the citizens of PS:PO love breaking the law, so it’s probably warranted.
Check out a new trailer for the Tackling Update below, and stay tuned for some fresh gameplay of me taking the update and new vehicles for a spin later this week.
