My wife and I don’t have kids, but we have a dog. And, of course, my wife has tried to get our dog Duncan to watch Bluey. Apparently, Bluey is made in the colors that a dog can see, and according to TikTok, dogs will watch the show. Well, not our dog. Maybe he’ll be more interested in trying out the upcoming Bluey: The Videogame. Yes, that anthropomorphic six-year-old Blue Heeler puppy is getting her own videogame. The best part is you can play with up to four people. So I can be Bandit, the dad, my wife can be Chili, the mother, we can have Duncan play Bluey, and even have our cat Loki play as Bluey’s sibling Bingo. Amazing.
I’m clearly not the target for Bluey: The Videogame and that’s fine; I’m not the target demo for a lot of things that others can enjoy. But I will say Bluey: The Videogame looks pretty solid for what it is. “Become immersed in the world of Bluey in this interactive sandbox adventure as players navigate faithfully recreated and iconic locations including Bluey's home - fully explorable for the first time. Engage in story-driven episodic gameplay with activities inspired by fan favorite moments from the show as well as a brand-new four-part storyline created in partnership with Artax Games, BBC Studios and the show's producers at Ludo Studio.” Again, it seems that developers have really tried to make this something that younger fans can really get into, and if it’s a gateway to jumping into other videogames, then even better.
Bluey: The Videogame has been designed with flexibility in mind. Players can engage with the game and explore it at their own pace, jump between story quests or activities, and explore at any time. There will be a variable difficulty feature that allows the game to be accessible and fun for both preschool and older fans.
Bluey: The Videogame is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on November 17th, 2023.
