Originally an award winning board game, Gloomhaven releases as a video game on consoles today. On the table top Isaac Childres’ board game won six Golden Geek awards. Now the same card-based gameplay brings two campaigns, over 250 scenarios, and 17 mercenaries to the screen. There are two versions of the game available:
Solo Scenarios: Mercenary Challenges is an adaptation of the board game expansion with some tweaks for digital play. There are 17 Solo Scenarios to win 17 unique items – one for each of the game's characters, or "Mercenaries." Jaws of the Lion is more of an expansion, adding four new mercenaries as well as new enemies, city events, items, battle goals, and scenarios from the original board game expansion. It's estimated Solo Scenarios adds about 20 hours of additional content whole Jaws adds 30 hours. Jaws of the Lion is also available as a separate purchase for $18.
Gloomhaven is out digitally today on PS4 and PS5, Xbox One and Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Tomorrow, physical copies will also release.
