After first revealing the game at last year’s Game Awards, developer Ascendant Studios and publisher Electronic Arts announced that first-person magic shooter Immortals of Aveum will launch on July 20th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Immortals of Aveum features a cinematic single-player story that puts players in the shoes of Jak, an orphan recruited into the ranks of an elite group of battlemages known as the Order of Immortals, who are locked in a war over the control of magic. The world of Aveum itself is full of conflict, memorable characters, and deep lore. The game is said to take around 25 hours to complete and features no multiplayer component at all, which will be music to lots of gamers’ ears.
Immortals is being published under the EA Originals label and Ascendant Studios is certainly no slouch – boasting a vast amount of talent which includes studio founder Bret Robbins, the creative director on the original Dead Space, as well as multiple Call of Duty story campaigns for Sledgehammer Games.
I’m looking forward to this, especially since it appears to be trying something a little different in the FPS space.
