Tamarak Trail is an upcoming turn-based deck-building roguelike that uses dice instead of cards; think Dicey Dungeons and Slay the Spire. Recently developerYarrow Games released a detailed walkthrough showcasing Tamarak Trail’s unique dice-building mechanics, combat system, and haunting world. “Tamarak Trail is a very deep game that I must’ve spent over 100 hours playing already. And it’s not even finished!” said Steve Escalante, general Manager of Versus Evil. “This developer walkthrough does a tremendous job of illustrating to players the unique mechanics and world that make Tamarak Trail a truly unforgettable - and wildly addicting - experience!”
You play as a member of a secret society named the Sturgeon Lodge. It’s up to you to solve the mystery of decaying earth, hunt down the source of this corruption and put a stop to it. In Tamarak Trail you can choose to play as one of three characters; Magician, Tracker or the Detective. Each with its own unique abilities and traits. Procedurally-generated paths create a host of possibilities where you can encounter events, monsters, campsites, or treasure.
I’m always a sucker for hand-drawn art, and Tamarak Trail has it. Tthe game's art direction has many inspirations, including the Group of Seven, the Canadian landscape painters of the 1920’s, and illustrator Ivan Bilibin.
Narrative driven roguelike Tamarak Trail will launch in Q2 on PC, a specific date hasn’t been shared. You can follow the game's development on their Steam page to stay in the loop.
