While developer Insomniac Games revealed back in December that the highly anticipated Marvel's Spider-Man 2 would be releasing in Fall 2023, we have yet to hear anything else about the game's release date to this point. That changed in a big way today after Venom voice actor Tony Todd revealed on Twitter that the highly anticipated sequel is currently scheduled to launch in September:
Looks like September! Massive publicity coming in august. Commercials start dropping in august so I’m told. Hold on to your … and hold breath! Gonna be necessary
— Tony Todd (@TonyTodd54) March 21, 2023
A September release is certainly not a shock by any stretch of the imagination, especially considering the first game released in September of 2018 to great success, having sold more than 30 million copies as of last May. If you're a Gaming Nexus regular, you might recall that this also lines up with my predicted release window when I took my best shot at nailing down PlayStation's 2023 release schedule at the end of last year.
Hopefully we won't have to wait much longer for the official word on Spider-Man 2's release date, perhaps at the rumored PlayStation Showcase that is allegedly set to take place before E3.
