NetherRealm Studios announced a new Mortal Kombat game.... an RPG mobile game

Well this certainly wasn't the announcement MK fans were expecting when it came to a new game announcement. NetherRealm Studios have indeed announced Mortal Kombat: Onslaught a game coming in 2023 and it's a RPG mobile game. 

It appears based on the press release that the game will be a "strategic team-based collection RPG with fast paced group melee combat" as said by Chief Creative Officer, Ed Boon. 

While I will certainly be checking this out, words like "collection" worry me that this is going to be card pack/microtransactions hell. 

Mortal Kombat: Onslaught launches in 2023.
