Rumor: Horizon Zero Dawn remaster incoming; Multiplayer project also in development

Update: The report from MP1st has since been corroborated by VideoGamesChronicle and their sources.

A fresh rumor has been reported by website MP1st that Horizon Zero Dawn has a remaster of some sort in development for PlayStation 5, according to their sources. The source did not clarify whether the upgrade was a remaster or a complete remake of the open-world RPG, but did claim that the update would include an improved lighting system, overhauled textures, improved animations, updated character models, and more accessibility options.

If true, the existence of such a remaster will likely prove controversial, especially if given a $70 price tag on PlayStation 5. Even so, Sony has proven (at least to this writer) what they can do with these types of remakes, assuming this would be on the same level as the recently released The Last of Us Part 1.

MP1st also claimed that a Horizon multiplayer project is in development for both PS5 and PC, according to three separate sources. It is unclear what features the game would have, although a form of co-op is claimed to be included.

Elsewhere, actor Lance Reddick mistakenly let it slip this weekend in a now-deleted tweet that he is providing additional performance capture for something related to Horizon Forbidden West.

Perhaps Sony will soon provide us with a PlayStation showcase event to shed some light on these rumors, but for now – we wait. In the meantime, check out our original review of Horizon Zero Dawn.
