Atari's classic 2600 game Yars Revenge is one of my favorite games from that system. I was a kid at the time so you had to use your imagination for a lot of these games. I imaged it as you playing as a fly where you have to chip away at the enemy base and avoid the spinning pinwheel of death. Once you line up a clear shot you can fire a shot into the middle of the enemy base like the Deathstar and destroy it. Good times I had with that game.
Well Atari is giving Yars Revenge a modern update with Yars: Recharged, a remake of the original game. The game looks like it's the same premise of chipping away at the enemy stronghold but it looks like its going to be very difficult and you are going to have a lot of attacks coming your way making the game also look like a bullet hell shooter. The game will feature an arcade mode a challenge mode where you only have one life to complete the level, numerous power ups and local co-op for both arcade and mission mode
This is the next game in their series of "Recharged" games which also includes Gravitar: Recharged, Breakout: Recharged and Black Widow: Recharged.
Yars: Recharged will be released on Steam, Epic Games Store, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X, Switch and Atari VCS later this year.
