This latest bit of news is a little different than the standard "x game is coming to y platform" because, well, Ghostbusters VR Academy isn't actually coming to any platform you might have in your home. This is not to be confused with the upcoming Ghostbusters VR game, which was showcased at the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase. Ghostbusters VR Academy is a standalone VR experience available at Hologate locations worldwide. Hologate is a Munich based company with over 400 locations across 5 continents (sorry Africa and Antarctica) that provide Virtual Reality spaces outside of your home for pay to play experiences. the latest addition to the lineup of those experiences is set in the Ghostbusters universe.
Ghostbusters VR Academy will be available for both the Arena and Blitz platforms for Hologate. In the Arena game, you strap on a proton pack and use teamwork to overcome the ghost busting scenarios. Blitz, on the other hand, is the racing platform - putting you in the driver's seat of an Ecto vehicle to see who can come out the other side with the fastest time. So either strap on a VR headset and grab a proton pack or hop into the hydraulics of a moving vehicle simulator and get an immersive Ghostbusters experience like no other.
I've never been to a Hologate location myself, but have done similar type games at a location branded by another company and they can be a lot of fun. They also make for great team building outings for the corporate crowd, which was specifically my experience. Seeing as Ghostbusters is also in a bit of a resurgence with a string of successful movies reigniting the franchise and games being produced on multiple platforms, seems like as good a time as any to check out the Academy VR experience if you have the chance.
