McPixel released back in 2012 on Steam, and over time became one of those "if you know about it, you know about it" games. Featuring a McGruber-like main character, McPixel plunges the player from one pixel-art scenario to another, providing plenty of ways to die and only one way to win. If you die, the game just crashes you right into the next scenario, with no time to think or react. Things cycle a little bit, and eventually scenarios that killed you come back around so you can try again. Watch the video below, and you'll get it. The whole thing is lightning fast, ridiculous, and funny.
So here we are in 2022, and developer Sos Sosowski is returning to Steam with McPixel 3, this time with the backing of world-favorite publisher Devolver Digital. And McPixel 3 seems to be...exactly like McPixel (don't ask about McPixel 2 - you won't get anywhere). As part of Steam Next Fest, the first playable demo for McPixel 3 is going live on February 21, and you can check out my early fumblings with that slice of gameplay right here:
It should be noted that after failing it like 10 times in a row, I solved the scene with the missile crashing into the building on the very next try. There is indeed a solution, it was just so dumb that I didn't think to try it.
For those that are interested, the original McPixel is now available on Steam on sale for 99 cents. No solid release date on McPixel 3 yet, but we can expect the full serving of madness sometime in 2022.
