I've been wanting to write a bit about Zorya: The Celestial Sisters for a while now, but keep getting pulled in other directions. A new multiplayer indie strategy/puzzle game set to release in early February, Zorya looks like just the sort of co-op game that I would dig into with my daughter, a budding co-op gamer.
Zorya: The Celestial Sisters has a mythical bent, with Aysu, goddess of the night struggling to make her way back to the sky with the assistance of her sister Solveig, goddess of the night. With two players - one guiding each sister - players must make their way through a series of puzzles, communicating and cooperating to recover Aysu's powers and send her back to the sky where she belongs. Given the two sisters' power-set, I would imagine that a lot of the puzzles are light and darkness based.
Zorya is scheduled to release on PC and Nintendo Switch, and will offer both online and split-screen multiplayer. In a new video released today, developer Madlife Divertissement "gives players a look at the design choices behind the game directly from members of the development team, showcasing the desolate lands of Vyraj where the sun never sets." I always love these sorts of behind-the-scenes videos, giving players a look at the thought that goes into game design and world building. Take a look:
Zorya: The Celestial Sisters is scheduled to release on February 8, 2022 for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
