Well what a news to drop on a Tuesday morning. Microsoft is going to acquire Activision Blizzard making it another huge company to join Microsoft Games. Last year, Microsoft acquired Bethesda and now, Microsoft will be the owner of the Call of Duty, Warcraft, Overwatch, and Candy Crush franchises to name a few.
That's just a huge get for them provided this all goes through. With the acquisition, they would be behind Tencent and Sony as the third largest gaming company by revenue. Whew!
Needless to say, you can probably see the popular Call of Duty series become an Xbox exclusive. Blizzard has some games that are on the PlayStation, but I wouldn't be surprised of Diablo 4 also becomes an Xbox exclusive.
Now, will Sony start doing a few things to counter these Microsoft moves? We've heard rumors of them coming out with their own Xbox Game Pass competitor.
Saying this is huge is an understatement. Microsoft's really pushing their gaming division and acquiring one of the largest gaming companies is going to have such a huge ripple effect that I can't wait to see what comes out of this in the next year and more.
