ViewSonic makes some really fine monitors and at CES 2020, they're putting their hat into the mini-LED ring. the ViewSonic ELITE XG321UG is their flagship gaming monitor and for those looking into a mini-LED monitor, this one seems to check off a lot of boxes.
It's 32" in size and features a resolution of 3840x2160 and that sweet, sweet mini-LED technology for that bright vivid picture. With 1152 local dimming zones, it's going to allow for some very good bright areas and dark, dark blacks to boot.
If it's speed you want, the monitor can run at 144Hz for some really high refresh rates. It also supports G-Sync Ultimate for dynamic variable refresh rates. Peak brightness comes in at 1400 cd/m2 so it should do really well for HDR. Response time is rated at 3.6ms.
Connection wise, you get an HDMI 2.0 port along with a Display Port and a USB hub. No HDMI 2.1 here so you won't get the full benefit if you plug in an Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5.
And for those that enjoy RGB, the Elite XG321UG offers customizable RGB lighting.
I've actually been holding out on buying a new monitor until this year and with these specs, this one is going to be in my short list of considerations.
Cost wise, it's not going to be cheap. We're talking $2,499, which is more than my OLED TV. Still, mini-LED is pretty damn awesome and while it's going to take some time for that technology to come down to more affordable pricing, it's nice to see some quality monitors coming out that will use this technology.
The ViewSonic Elite XG321UG is slated for a Q1 release.
