So here I was, all ready to write a big article about how I personally have been following the development of Dreamworks Spirit: Lucky's Big Adventure with excitement because I have a daughter who is in love with the franchise. I was then going to compare Lucky's Big Adventure to Red Dead Redemption - which my daughter happily watches me play - because they are both open world western games. And I was going to call the new Spirit game "Red Dead for kids", because that is the logical direction that a video game writer would take this sort of story.
But then I discovered that GN's Randy Kalista already wrote the exact article I was going to write - only better. He literally wrote what I was going to write, three months ago, but with his usual flowing prose. Whatever, Randy, stealing all of my good ideas with your time travel, and making me feel bad about my writing.
I don't really blame Randy, of course (well, maybe a little). It turns out that a lot of us at Gaming Nexus have daughters (and sons) who will likely love this game. We also tend to enjoy Red Dead, so this confluence of ideas was bound to happen. It doesn't change my excitement to share Lucky's Big Adventure with my daughter. To get her jazzed, I showed her the new gameplay trailer that dropped today, and sure enough, she immediately started asking for the game.
Sorry kids, you can't have it yet. My daughter, Randy's daughter, and the rest of the little Spirit fans across the world will have to wait until June 1st, when Dreamworks Spirit: Lucky's Big Adventure releases on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC.
