Today, Firaxis shared a new game update video highlighting upcoming changes, adjustments, and additions coming to Civilization VI on April 22. Ahead of the release, Firaxis will host a community live stream at 11 a.m. PST / 2 p.m. EST / 7 p.m. BST on April 21.
All of New Frontier Pass's content has released, so this month's update tweaks existing civilizations, including Spain, Khmer, China, Mapuche, Canada, and Georgia. On top of that, April's game update adds three new units for all civilizations, two new True Start maps, and naval AI balancing that raises the stakes for travel on the high seas.
The new units are Line Infantry, Man-At-Arms, and Trebuchet. Because each unit changes the pacing of units in some areas, the developer team reexamined unit strengths across the board and made several changes to ensure these new units feel like weighty upgrades that smooth out previous combat differences.
For fans of True start maps, the two additions are True Start Mediterranean and True Start Huge Map.
Lastly, the naval AI has also seen improvements; the computer now makes better use of naval units, leading to more interesting choices around naval production and warfare.
