Amplitude Studios, creators of the Endless Space series, has delayed the release of HUMANKIND to fix bugs and improve AI.
Originally scheduled to drop April 22nd, the game hailed by the company as its "magnum opus" will be released on August 17th.
In a release issued this week, the Paris-based developer announced that the game’s team is hard at work making improvements based on feedback from HUMANKIND’s OpenDev Beta, Lucy. Game pacing and balance will be addressed, in addition to improving onboarding for new users and other UX-related bugs.
Comparable to strategy titles like Civilization, HUMANKIND will give players the power to reroute the course of human history, using 60 cultures across six major historical eras to build civilizations, wage war, make scientific breakthroughs, and discover natural wonders. Amplitude has stated that this game has been a dream project since its 2011 founding, and that its 2016 acquisition by Sega Europe has been helpful in making the dream a reality.
"It's been exciting to see the community get their hands on the game during the last few OpenDev sessions, and to hear all of the positive feedback,” said Romain de Waubert de Genliand, Amplitude Studio Head & COO. “Releasing HUMANKIND in August will allow us the extra time to keep working with the community and polishing the game for an amazing day one experience."
HUMANKIND's August 17th release will bring the game to PC, macOS, and Stadia.
While all Machiavellians must remain patient, they are encouraged to anticipate the new debut with the trailer below.
