Maneater is a wild load of tongue-in-cheek fun. In my original review I gave the game a 7.4, but thinking back on my time with Maneater, I am remembering it a little more fondly than that. Sure, the gameplay gets a little repetitive, but then in return, you can drag a giant mutated shark out of the water at a seaside marina, and chomp all the fat humans stupid enough to run into your path. It's dumb, but it is also every bit as fun as it looks. The weird voiceovers by Chris Parnell just add to the trippy, violent entertainment.
Now players can take all of the Orca-fighting fun on summer vacation this year, because Maneater is coming to Nintendo Switch on May 25. This is a perfect road trip game, because Maneater will have the kids giggling in the back seat for hours, while your wife gives you stern, disapproving looks for giving it to them. Or maybe that's just me. Anyhow, it's pretty clear that Deep Silver has a winner here, and they are going to milk that sucker for every red penny they can - and good on them for doing so. It's not every company that makes games allowing players to chomp folks floating on inner tubes with giant electric teeth, so Deep Silver might as well profit from their madness.
Maneater for Nintendo Switch releases May 25, 2021 for $39.99. For more details on Maneater, you can check out the game's official website – and follow the developers at Tripwire Interactive on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Twitch.tv, and Instagram.
