The first thing that stands out about the new trailer for Ashwalkers is the tone. There is an atmosphere about the short preview that is somber and weighty. Like the air thick with ash, you can feel that heaviness all throughout the visuals and the music. It makes an excellent first impression, and thankfully we have more news than just a feeling about the preview trailer.
Originally known as Cendres: A Survival Journey, Ashwalkers is the new title for the same game. It is being produced by Nameless XIII studios which is headed by one of the co-creators of Life is Strange. This game is set 200 years in the future and is a post-apocalyptic narrative survival sim where you must navigate four survivors across a ravaged Earth. After the collapse of society, there is no larger moral judgement about the choices these survivors make. It's up to their own integrity to lead them to one of 34 possible endings. A branching story, meaningful choices, and a heavy atmosphere make an excellent setting for a game about managing meagre resources.
It appears the tale will always follow the same four classes in the party: the captain Petra, the fighter Sinh, the scholar Kali, and the scout Nadir. From the press release, players will:
