In a statement posted on Twitter, Remedy Games confirmed that the next-gen upgrade for Control has been delayed until early 2021. Explaining the delay, Remedy stated: “We want the final quality of the game to be awesome, and so we need a bit more time to work on it. Thank you for your understanding and patience!”
This is only the latest setback for Control’s next-gen upgrade which has been marred in controversy. We reported earlier this year that the upgrade disrespects fans, due to the fact that it is not available to those who purchased Control and its season pass for full price. Instead, fans of the game are forced into buying a new $40 Ultimate Edition if they wish to get the next-gen upgrade.
This was all the more exacerbated by the fact that Control was no stranger to technical issues on current-gen machines. Frame rate drops were frequent and if a next-gen upgrade was to be had, fans hoped they would be rewarded for purchasing the game at full price and sticking through the technical issues. Alas, even after a torrent of backlash, the status of the availability of the next-gen upgrade has not changed.
So, if you’re looking to enjoy the next-gen upgrade of Control, not only will you have to re-buy the game, you’ll also have to wait until early 2021 now.
