Following the delay news from a few weeks ago, we do have gameplay footage of Planet Coaster on consoles released by Frontier Developments to the game's YouTube channel. The launch of the game on consoles is stills et for "Holiday 2020" but we will be getting the game on this gen and next gen consoles and PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X will all get the game at the same time. Of course, by then it will be last-get and this-gen but whatever.
Which brings me to my next point, what are we going to nickname Xbox Series X? Xbox SX? XSX? We need to settle on something because typing out Xbox Series X every time is just too much for this lazy writer.
Anyway, Planet Coaster is known in the sim games community as being both very good and having a ton of options to mess around with, basically those two things go hand in hand in that genre. It is the natural successor to Rollercoaster Tycoon and there will always be a place in my heart for tycoon games. They are great time wasters when done right. The challenge for all these games is translating control schemes that work handily on mouse and keyboard over to controller interfaces, but by now there are plenty of examples for Frontier Developments to follow to know how to do that right, so here's hoping for a good one...
