And nothing of value was lost.
WWE 2K20 was an absolute disaster in every way shape and form and 2K should have been absolutely ashamed of themselves for charging $60 for it. It was a completely broken, unplayable mess that was riddled with some of the most ridiculous bugs and glitches ever seen in a WWE game. Bugs and glitches are common in games I know but this was like them releasing a game that was only 40% finished. It got some updates over the months but it's still terrible to this day. I tried playing it a couple of weeks ago and I got constant crashing issues and WWE Universe mode is still completely broken and unplayable.
It's clear that this series just isn't working anymore and for years we have wanted 2K to take a year off to give them enough time to give us, the fans the game we deserve. Well, we finally got our wish.
In their quarterly earnings conference all, and reported by Sean Ross of Fightful.com, the WWE confirmed that WWE 2K21 will not be releasing this year, making this the first time in nearly 20 years that there won't be an annual release in the official WWE game series that started with WWF Smackdown back in 2000.
I couldn't be happier with this news. Id be even happier if Madden and NBA 2K did the same thing. The whole yearly release for sports games is such an archaic model and just doesn't work anymore. Hopefully 2K can go back to the drawing board and at least try to give us something with effort and passion in it because they sure as hell didn't do that with WWE 2K20.
