Now this is a welcome surprise. EA and Valve have announced that EA titles are headed back to Steam with EA Access joining Valve's platform on November 15th. The first game to become available will be Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which is now up for pre-order on Steam as I type this.
The rest of the service is a bit vague, but EA promises that both old new games will be coming to Steam in a "broad portfolio of EA games" including The Sims 4 and Unravel 2. The multiplayer modes in Apex Legends, FIFA 20 and Battlefield V will also have Steam crossplay starting next year.
I'm happy to see this agreement as I was pretty cheesed off when EA started Origin up and yanked all their games off Steam. I'm not thrilled that I'll have to pay for an extra subscription fee either, as services like Steam and GOG have always been free to join. I'm also not sure what this means for the PC-centric Origin Access either. At the very least, I hope I'll finally be able to have all of the Mass Effect games on a single platform besides my PS3. Check the press release below for more details.
