Here's one I've had my eye on. Cliff Empire. It looks like a white-washed cyberpunk-lite city-builder for, I don't know, Anasazi cliff dwellers? I just applaud developer Lion's Shade's ability to come up with almost zero explanation as to why mankind is rebuilding society on top of completely cubist and arbitrary clifftops, just so we can have a gorgeous depth-of-field of the snowy mountain ranges falling away in the background. Logic? I don't care, do you?
After a nuclear war life on the surface became impossible. A 300m thick radioactive fog covered the Earth. We are looking for bold active people to manage the process of restoring life on Earth. Join!
Oh. That's why. That's fine.
Cliff Empire is officially out of Steam Early Access and ready to repopulate the Earth. And it's going to do it in beautiful monochrome. You bring your colonist lander to a precariously placed landing pad. Your colonists stroll out in cold weather gear that still manages to make them look like they're wearing midriff shirts and thong underwear. A little tilt shift in the camera makes your world look miniaturized and adorable, even with its crisp, commercial-property edges, and steel and glass architecture.
You'll have to pardon the broken English in the closed captioning. It's possible the developers are Russian, since their official website can flip between it and English. Besides, their English is better than my Russian, so I'm not dissing.
It's punching out Steam User Reviews above 90%, so there's obviously something interesting taking place in Cliff Empire. I hope to get my hands on it at some point.
