Rage 2 launch trailer gets a touch meta

More On: Rage 2

I'm still trying to get a feel for Rage 2, which is a fairly large departure from its decidedly staid predecessor. Id and developer Avalanche Studio are apparently aware of this, as they directly riff on the original game in this launch trailer. That aside, I'm not sure I'm completely on board with the game's "waaaacky" humor--it feels all kinds of "trying too hard"--but I'm hoping that the gameplay saves this one. Avalanche knows their dystopia stuff, and Id has never made a mechanically disappointing first person shooter, so here's hoping that Rage 2 is more than the sum of its parts when it arrives on May 14th.
