In Rage 2, it's you vs. everything else

It really crept up on me but Rage 2 is barely more than a month away from its May 14th release. The latest trailer doubles down on its theme of general chaos and insanity, emphasizing that it's you vs. the wasteland and everything in it, apparently including smug buffalo and cliffs. I have to admit, I'm still a touch skeptical that this game will feel natural and not "trying too hard." I'm getting Suicide Squad flashbacks of the cringey Hot Topic variety, but then again Rage 2 also looks like a heck of a lot of fun. It's just a little strange to see, considering the first Rage was a surprisingly understated and even sometimes introspective game; the apocalyptic mutant subject matter was definitely out there but it was presented so matter-of-factly, and the destroyed civilizations of the old Earth had an almost somber quality to them. That said, if your setting and premise are basically Mad Max, if you're taking it seriously you're kind of missing the point.
