1C and 3D Realms announce throwback shooter Wrath: Aeon of Ruin

More On: Wrath: Aeon of Ruin

It's been a while since we've heard from Duke Nukem-creator 3D Realms, but they're poised to make a comeback in a big way. They've teamed up with publisher 1C Comany to develop Wrath: Aeon of Ruin, a retro-affectionate first person shooter based on the original Quake engine. The reveal trailer...well, definitely looks like a late 90s Quake clone, but with the benefit of experience and a modern development environment. We will have to see if Wrath: Aeon of Ruin can take the crown from DUSK, the transcendent, unofficial sequel to every 90s shooter ever, but for now I'm optimistic. It's good to see 3D Realms getting back to what they are good at.

Wrath: Aeon of Ruin is set for a Steam release this summer, with ports on PS4, Xbox One and Switch coming in early 2020.
