Wow, everything old really is new again. THQ Nordic have announced that they are resuscitating 2003 action-platformer Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy and releasing it on Nintendo Switch. The game was an original IP developed by the sorely-missed studio Eurocom, and was released on the GameCube, PS2 and Xbox. The game stars a Egyptian demi-god named Sphinx, who teams up with the boy-king Tutankhamen himself after the latter is cursed with mummified undeath by the dark god Set. While it didn't light the sales charts on fire, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy did develop a cult following and got an HD re-release on PC back in 2017.
It's just a little odd that this semi-obscure platformer is coming back from the dead on Switch of all places, and with both a digital and physical release too ($29.99). The game is available now, so if you've been curious to try it out, or if you're an old fan who wants to revisit a childhood favorite, THQ has your poison.
Vienna, Austria, January 29th, 2019 - Rumour has it that Egypt is still full of ancient mummy tombs and treasures. And that's true! Even better, you can explore them yourself in the childhood classic Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy! The game is now available digitally and physically on Nintendo Switch for $ 29,99 / £ 26,99 / € 29,99 (SRP).
