Capcom announces film adaptation for Monster Hunter

In a press release today, Capcom announced that Monster Hunter is being adapted to film with production company Constantin Film, and Paul W.S. Anderson (Event Horizon) slated to direct. 

With a working title of Monster Hunter, the plot synopsis states the following:

"[T]he film tells the story of two heroes who come from different worlds to defeat a shared danger, the powerful, deadly and magnificent monsters that inhabit the land. Along the way viewers will make new discoveries and encounter familiar faces and beloved characters from the games like the Admiral".

No other details like cast, specific game plots, or speculative release dates were announced. Principal photography is set to begin in Namibia, South Africa starting in October.
