Yeah, so I don’t know very much about Fist of the North Star as a franchise, but if this trailer is any indication of what goes on in this universe, I’m going to have to invest a little time getting up to speed. There isn’t a lot of story telling going on here, but there sure are a lot of exploding heads.
Developed by Ryu ga Gotoku Studio (the Yakuza series), Lost Paradise take a look at an alternate universe version of the original series’ canon. This basically means that the devs had the ability to go nuts and create a wild post-apocalyptic world, full of the old ultra-violence. They also claim to have wedged a love story in there somewhere, along with a bunch of side games. Sega says that due to the non-canonical nature of the game, players don’t need to be familiar with the franchise, so anyone that is interested can just jump right in.
If you play in the first couple of weeks, you can also unlock a Kiryu skin, and run through the entire game as the Dragon of Kamurocho. Dope. And for folks that are not interested in the blood spray coating the screen, there is an option to turn “extra blood” on or off.
Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise is available today on PlayStation 4, in both physical and digital editions, for $59.99.
